The Gospel

Jesus Christ said "repent and believe the gospel" - Mark 1:15

We need a savior because God is infinitely holy, just, etc. and his standard is perfection and we do not meet that and we deserve his fair judgement for breaking his laws which is an eternity in hell.
1.Habakkuk 1:13-
Your eyes are too pure to [a]approve evil,
And You can not look on wickedness with favor.
Why do You look with favor
On those who deal treacherously?
Why are You silent when the wicked swallow up
Those more righteous than they?

2. Romans 3:10-12
 as it is written,
There is none righteous, not even one;
11 There is none who understands,
There is none who seeks for God;
12 All have turned aside, together they have become useless;
There is none who does good,
There is not even one.”

3.Isaiah 64:6
 For all of us have become like one who is unclean,
And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment;
And all of us wither like a leaf,
And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.
4.Romans 3:23
 for all [a]have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
5.Romans 6:23
 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
6.Isaiah 59:2
 But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God,
And your sins have hidden His [a]face from you so that He does not hear.

In order to be saved and reconcile our broken relationship with God because we have been separated from him due to sin, we must believe with all our hearts in Jesus Christ and his finished work on the cross to make us perfect before God through his bodily death and resurrection . This is "faith". Jesus Christ is the Son of God (John 3:16), God in flesh (John 1:1), 2nd person in the trinity (Matthew 3:16-17).

1. 2 Corinthians 5:21
 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
2. Ephesians 2:8-9
 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and [a]that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
3. Romans 10:9-11
that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, [b]resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, [c]resulting in salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be [d]disappointed.”
4.John 3:18-19
  He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the [a]only begotten Son of God. 19 This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil.
5. Acts 4:12
 And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
6.John 14:6
 Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
7.1 Peter 2:24
and He Himself [a]bore our sins in His body on the [b]cross, so that we might die to [c]sin and live to righteousness; for by His [d]wounds you were healed.

8.Romans 4:5
 But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness,

Before you put your faith in Christ, count the costs. Being a Christian does not guarantee you wealth, health, or prosperity. It is a rocky road that is painful but in the end you get to be with God for eternity because of Christ. We believe once and continue to struggle to follow Christ till the day we die but most importantly God sees to it that his work of sanctification (making us more like him) is completed.

Luke 14:26 -
For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it?

Luke 9:23
And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.

Philippians 1:6 -
 For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

We are saved by faith ALONE in Jesus Christ and what he did and not works e.g going to church every Sunday, being baptized, being a "good" person, praying to virgin Mary, the five pillars of Islam, pretending God does not exist (atheism), etc.
1. Romans 3:28
 For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works [b]of the Law.

2.Galatians 2:21
 I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through [a]the Law, then Christ died needlessly.”

You are a new person who desires to live for God through Jesus Christ. You have been made perfect in God's sight because of Jesus. You have received the Holy Spirit and are his temple.
1. Ezekiel 11:19
 And I will give them one heart, and put a new spirit within [a]them. And I will take the heart of stone out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh,
2. 2 Corinthians  5:17
 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, [a]he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.
3. Ephesians 1:13
 In [a]Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also [b]believed, you were sealed in [c]Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,
4. 1 corinthians 6:19-20
 Or do you not know that your body is a [a]temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from [b]God, and that you are not your own? 20 For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.

Once you believe the gospel (which is above) and you become a Christian, it is important you find a good church. A good church is one that promotes Christ in correct knowledge, the gospel, and sticks to the word of God in all things. Going to church does not save you but it is God's will for your life as a Christian to grow by having fellowship with other believers - Hebrews 10:25

Here is why you need to fellowship once you become a Christian -

This is what a true Church looks like based off the word of God- THE BIBLE -    (Update on this link: Do not attend a church that teaches "conditional security" - "you can lose your salvation". CARM is wrong for using scripture like Romans 14 to say such a serious issue is debatable. Eternal security for a true Christian is very clear in scripture. Here is why -
